Project Description
Because you were moving your centers to the right and straightening your right arm and releasing the club too early through impact – we spent our time together making sure we exaggerated these points.
1. weight forward – the idea is to start with around 55-60% on the front leg and gradually increase the pressure under the front foot. I think you could also start with more weight forward initially to ‘burn in’ the new moves.
2. Shoulder down – This directly affects the ability to tilt and extend.
3. Hands In – combined with your shoulder moving down keep the clubhead out side the hands for longer to P2 (takeaway). Watch the ‘figure of 8’ drill it describes it as a ‘light backswing’ ‘heavy downswing’.
4. No release. You will have to feel a much later hit. Meaning the clubhead will be lagging behind your hands for much longer coming down. The figure of 8 drill will help you externally rotate your right arm to get it in the slot and maintain a bent condition.
5. As far as practice – practice your technique as much as you can. Once you start to see the ball fly better try and relate the whole movement to some simple ‘trigger’ word you can use in a routine that you can take to the course. And obviously, practice your routine as well. You’ll find a lot more info in my short pdf/ebook ‘How To Practice like The Pros’.
Please also watch the video drills attached. They relate to what is needed to work on.
