Project Description
Tucking the club into your navel is a great way to learn and feel a one piece takeaway.
When you practice this drill all the necessary movements fall into place nicely. The hands move on the inside and you feel the club, arms, torso and hips move away as a unit. You only need to move the club head a couple of feet max.
If the butt end of the club stays tucked in the navel the torso and hips follow. This is the sequence we are after in the backswing and it happens within the first part of the movement. After that we are after maximum shoulder and hip turn. There should never be any restriction with the hips.
