JP Notes: Although some right handed golfers are actually left side dominant, most are right side dominant. Unfortunately, what this tends to lead to in the golf swing is a dominant right arm that lengthens too early and releases the angle of the bent right wrist before impact. If you look at the impact position of every PGA/European Tour professional – their trail hand is still bent at impact.
The video below by Nick Taylor gives you a great drill for keeping your right wrist bent at impact to maintain the right arm flying wedge.
All of this information is conducive with the shape of shot we want to hit. We want to hit a push/push-draw that starts to the right of target and lands to right of the target. Thus, eliminating the left side of the golf course.
Excellent video
Something I’ve been working on myself. It’s improved my ball striking immeasurably.
James, What should we expect in terms of ball flight with this drill?
Lower, less distance and always starting to the right..
The bent right wrist basically keeps the shaft leaning forward and the face pointing right.
thumbs up!
Agreed!
