Two points I’m generally teaching people on the range to improve ball striking relate to weight and pressure transfer, and arm structure.
Weight & Pressure Transfer
On the downswing we want to not only shift the weight (hip sway) but also push down under the lead foot (pressure increase).
Combine that with a good hip rotation (the Pros clear their hips by about 30 degrees at impact), as well as a squatting action (bending forward) then extending (bending backwards) – and you’re off to the races!
Arm Structure
The sooner we extend the trial arm on the downswing the sooner the clubhead hits the ground. So keeping the right arm folded longer on the downswing will keep the left wrist cocked longer (radial deviation) and your chances of hitting the ground after the ball drastically increase.
Combine this with keeping the club head behind your hands down to P6 and you’ll start building someting that looks similar to how the Pros move!
Here’s a short video to help you get it..
Enjoyed watching your lessonn

Hello James,
What about the releasing of the 4th and 1st accumulators? i get the lower body going but my arms don’t release, so its not synced up. Is it just a matter of pulling the butt end away from the right shoulder faster and the right arm straitening sooner to avoid tilting back and club coming too far in to out, so the shoulders are more level at impact as they were at address instead of tilted and hanging back?
Thanks
It’s difficult to give you an accurate diagnosis of your faults without seeing your move. Yes, the butt of the handle moves gradually further away from the right shoulder on the way down but the trail arm doesn’t fully extend until post impact. I’ve found a common fault is the head moving forward with the hips from p4-p6. If this happens there’s not enough right tilt being applied to PULL the arms down fast enough. By p6 try and get about 20 deg of right tilt with the shoulders.
Hope that helps
